Is your gateway running on NMI?
Most merchants on the NMI platform do not know it, because their processor sells it under its own name. Here is how to tell in about a minute, and what to do once you know.
Six signs you are on NMI
Any two of these together is a strong indication. The endpoint is conclusive on its own.
Look for these
- A gateway login separate from your merchant statement
- An API endpoint that ends in transact.php
- Something called a security key rather than an API login and transaction key
- A Customer Vault section in the gateway portal
- A gateway interface that looks the same as other processors you have seen
- Your processor mentioning Collect.js or a three step redirect
The quickest test
Install the free plugin, paste your gateway URL and security key, and press Test connection. If it returns your merchant ID, you are on the platform. If it does not, nothing has been charged and you have lost five minutes.

The setup differs slightly depending on how you got your account.
Direct NMI account
You signed up with NMI itself, or your ISO gave you an NMI branded portal.
Reseller or white label gateway
Your processor sells the NMI platform under its own brand name.
Authorize.Net emulator
You are using an AuthNet plugin pointed at an NMI account, and missing features because of it.
