Home / Features / Multiple MIDs

One store, several merchant accounts.

Multi entity merchants, franchises and stores with separate B2B and consumer volume often hold more than one MID. Route each transaction to the right one with rules instead of running several stores.

Included in Enterprise and above.

What you get

Rules evaluated in order, with a default that always catches.

Route by currency

Send each currency to the merchant account that settles in it, avoiding conversion on your side.

Route by product or category

Separate subscription revenue, wholesale orders or a distinct brand into their own account and their own settlement.

Route by cart total

Send high ticket orders to an account with different limits or a different processor relationship.

Independent settings per account

Each MID keeps its own credentials, transaction type and descriptor, so nothing bleeds between entities.

How it works

Routing is decided once, before the transaction is built.

  • Add each merchant accountEnter the gateway URL and security key for every MID and give each one a label your team will recognise.
  • Order the rulesRules are evaluated top down, first match wins. A default account handles anything that does not match.
  • Confirm on the orderEvery order records which MID processed it, so reconciliation and refunds go back to the correct account automatically.

Worth knowing

Multiple accounts solve real problems and create a reconciliation one.

Refunds follow the original account

A refund has to go back through the MID that took the payment. The plugin records this on the order and enforces it, which matters most when a rule changes months after a sale.

Can I use different processors, not just different MIDs?
Yes, as long as each is on the NMI platform. Every account is configured independently with its own endpoint and key.
What happens if a rule matches nothing?
The default account processes the transaction. There is always a fallback, so an unmatched order never fails for routing reasons.
Does this work with subscriptions?
Yes. The MID used for the initial payment is stored with the subscription, and every renewal goes to that same account.
Is this the same as multi currency?
No. Routing decides which account receives a transaction. Presenting prices in several currencies is a separate WooCommerce concern.
