Phone orders and payment links, inside WordPress.
Not every sale comes through the checkout. Take a card over the phone from the order screen, or send a hosted link for a quote and let the order complete itself when it is paid.
Planned. Pro and above when it ships. Frequently requested by MOTO merchants.
What is planned
Two ways to charge for an order that did not start at the checkout.
Charge a card from admin
Create an order, enter the card in hosted fields inside the admin screen, and take the payment without the number ever reaching your server.
Charge a saved method
For an existing customer, charge a card already in the vault. Nobody reads a card number aloud, and nothing is written down.
Pay by link
Generate a hosted payment page for an order and send it by email. The order updates itself when the buyer pays.
MOTO flagged correctly
Mail and telephone order transactions are marked as such, which is what the card networks expect and what your rates assume.
How it works
Both paths reuse the same gateway and the same order records.
- Create the order in WooCommerceAdd products, set the customer, apply whatever pricing you agreed. This is the normal admin order screen.
- Choose charge or send a linkTake the card there and then, or email a payment link and leave the order pending until it is paid.
- The order completes normallySame transaction record, same order notes, same refund and capture options as a checkout order.
MOTO is not the same as ecommerce
Telephone orders usually price higher and carry more chargeback risk, since there is no cardholder authentication. Some merchant accounts need MOTO enabled explicitly. Check with your processor before relying on it.
